Habit 10
Analyze, Assess, Evaluate, Compare, Contrast, Describe, Discuss, Explain
Analyze, Assess, Evaluate, Compare, Contrast, Describe, and Explain is what I have been doing all year long in my AP World History class. I have learned to develop all this aspects in a certain way that I only understood. At the beginning of the year I didn’t know what some of these words meant, or how I was supposed to use them in history.Out of all these aspects the one I had most trouble with was analyze. I wouldn’t know how to analyze, all I would do is summarize what the author was saying but not explain what I actually understood from the writer. That was my biggest struggle not be able to analyze over the course of time I was able to comprehend the text and give my understanding about the topic.I a major difference from one of my first essayss to my most current essay I was able to analyze and actually get one of the best essay grade so far from any other one that I had written.I would have to say the DBQ was the most common practice for me since the analysis of documents called for it. Comparing and conrasting obviously came about in the comparison essays. Describing was applied in everything I have done this year. I've been required and able to describe why certain events occurred, the characteristics of a certain culture or civilization, and even describe the connections between events, cultures, spreads, trade patterns, time periods, and anything within societies.
