Exploring the persistent relevance of world history to contemporary developments

The whole point for a history class is to relate the present with the past and know how the past shaped the present and how it can shape the future. In my own quest in taking history classes I have been able to identify connections between events of today with those of the past. Like for example, the role of women changed drastically. At first, men were seen subordinate as women. The role of women before was to have children and stay home to take care of them. Now, In the year 2010 you don’t see that happening. Women now, have children, and work. Before women couldn’t go to school if they had children. I see that completely wrong because any woman has the right to succeed in life even though they have children.Eventually, women had the ability to do what men would do at work. How women saw this, was that they had to have the same amount of rights as men did. Everyone had to be equal in society. Even to this day there are now more women attending colleges and universities than men, women have come along way from beeing caretakers to now beeing college graduates having an education that they once were not allowed to have. Being in AP World History helped me a lot believe it or not. I didn’t learn as much as I would’ve liked but I did learn things that I thought I would’ve never learned before. Now I see the world as a different perspective. Now I know why things happened, and what caused that to happen.
